THE TOBY FUND has been recognized and praised by other organizations. The Wolf Creek/Sunny Valley Community Response Team recognized the fund for its contributions to the welfare of local animals. The Jackson County Companion Animal Coalition, composed of Southern Oregon animal advocates--including non-profits and public agencies--has described THE TOBY FUND as a "...success story highlighting 'making the connection' in a small, local community. Success is due to (l) goal setting (2) keeping the community informed and involved, and (3) recognizing forward momentum"--
Kathy Oxendine, founder and president, regularly publishes articles in the Wolf Creek/Sunny Valley BIG NEWS. The organization's accomplishments and activities have also been covered by THE GRANTS PASS COURIER and THE SOUTH COUNTY NEWS. Information about fundraisers has appeared on television websites as well as KMED radio, in the form of an extended interview with Kathy. Since September, 2006, we have published The Toby Tribune which is mailed to all Wolf Creek/Sunny Valley residents and distributed to various locations in Grants Pass. This news journal educates the public concerning animal care and welfare, emphasizing compassion for animals. We celebrate local human animal heroes, and include varied animal oriented articles of interest.
